DBM, CHED RO VI, RASUC VI conduct Harmonization in the Monitoring of SUC Physical Performance

 

Iloilo Science and Technology University hosted a whole day conference workshop on Harmonization in the Monitoring of State Universities Physical Performance on January 11, 2023.

SUCs partner agencies such as Department of Budget and Management, Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VI and Regional Association of State Universities and Colleges were among the attendees.

During his welcome remarks, Dr. Raul F. Muyong the Iloilo Science and Technology University president and at the same time the RASUC VI president, recognized all present delegates from the different SUCs and out of 11 University Presidents, 9 were able to attend physically. He also challenged all SUCs to start the year 2023 right by harmonizing all the reports and monitoring of the Physical Performance prior to submission as one region in general.

Ms. Maria Liane L. Gayomali, Acting Director of DBM RO VI presented the FY 2023 National Expenditure Program (NEP) and she also mentioned that the 2023 targets are not harmonized and SUCs interpreted the targets differently. Thus, a need to align and harmonize all targets is necessary.

Ms. Maytell A. Secuelan from DBM RO VI presented the FY 2021 actual physical performance while Ms. Maria Leane L. Gayomali presented the FY 2023 National Expenditure Program (NEP) targets.

Dr. Raul C. Alvarez Jr., the Regional Director of CHED RO VI discussed the Defining Performance Indicator of SUCs wherein he presented the compliance with the CHED minimum standards for academic program among others.

After the series of lectures and presentations, questions, clarifications were entertained and answered by director Alvarez.

Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre Jr. the Vice President for Administration and Finance of ISAT U presented and discussed the suggested reporting format with baseline parameters as suggested by DBM. Suggestions and recommendations from the SUCs present were all gathered and will be incorporated.

During his closing remarks, Dr. Joselito Villaruz, President of WVSU highlighted the importance of harmonizing all the reports to ensure transparency and accountability among SUCs.

“A harmonized reporting system will likewise provide an enabling mechanism for SUCs to identify targets, monitor performance and finally submit performance reports based on the identified common and unified matrix. This will ensure a harmonized understanding of our reports and serves as a channel for government to evaluate with transparency the accountability of SUCs not only in the region.” said Dr. Villaruz

A total of 68 delegates from 11 State Universities and partner agencies in the region attended the said conference.

 

 


Lumauag assures ISAT U Dumangas Campus, It’s payback time

 

“What I am now and what I have achieved, I owe it to the university.”

This was the prevailing statement made by Dr. Ramil G. Lumauag, newly installed Campus Administrator of ISAT U Dumangas Campus during the Turnover Ceremony on January 3, 2023.

Dr. Lumauag added, “It’s now my time to create leaders of this campus,” as he acknowledged Dr. Raul F. Muyong, ISAT U President for being his mentor and for creating future leaders like him.

Present also to witness the event were Dr. Corazon C. Corbal, VP for Academic Affairs; Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre Jr., VP for Administration and Finance; Dr. Nemia H. Mabaquiao, VP for External Affairs; Vice Mayor Ronaldo Golez and SB Reynaldo Dusaran, representative from Municipality of Dumangas; Mrs. Jocelyn Q. Deygabi, PTA President; Dr. Rosemarie Bebera, Alumni President; Other university officials; Student Republic Officers; Dr. Lumauag’s Family Members; and, other guests.

In his speech, Dr. Lumauag re-emphasized his plans and projects during the presentation

for the search of new campus administrator to strengthen the research capability of faculty members, establish a sustainable extension program that will help community, promote and strengthen the partnership with the international, national and local partners and stakeholders.

As  an IT Professional, one of his priorities is geared towards technological advancement by strengthening the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for distance education and improving IT infrastructures to provide fast internet access for the faculty and staff, students and the operations of the campus.

The newly installed campus administrator also promised to give full support to the faculty members for their professional development and continued improvement of the curriculum and instruction; students for their activities that will promote leadership and academic excellence and gender equality. The Administrative Support Staff was also acknowledged for their essential role and contribution and assured that his administration will work its best to provide what is best for them.

He ended his speech by inviting everyone to join with him in his journey following the Roadmap I.S.A.T.U. which stands for Innovative Systematic Awesome Technological Transparent United Dumangas Campus.

Dr. Lumauag’s previous administrative assignments were former Head of Instruction and OIC Campus Administrator of ISAT U Miagao Campus and recently as VLE Director of the University.
